For a full comprehensive eye examination (45 minutes) the cost is $123.50. Depending on your age and when you last had your eyes examined, your Medicare rebate will be between $34 and $67.85. The $123.50 fee covers you for your standard consultation, Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) of optic discs and maculae, digital retinal imaging, Optos Ultra-Wide Digital Retinal Scans (with fundus autofluorescence) and corneal topography and ocular biometry (if needed).

If the optometrist feels that a full consultation is not needed, then you will be billed $65 for a short consultation. The Medicare rebate for this is $34.

If your bank details are registered with Medicare, we claim the rebate automatically with the funds typically appearing in your bank account in one to two business days.

For pension card holders, Centrelink health care card holders, DVA Gold card holders, children and full-time students, the cost for a full comprehensive eye examination is just $25.
