YOUR CHILD’S VISUAL CLARITY
Vision information processing is about more than just how clearly a child can see, it’s about how effectively their brain interprets and uses visual information.
Vision information processing testing for children evaluates how effectively a child’s visual system interprets and utilises visual information. It goes beyond basic visual acuity (how clearly they see) to assess higher-level visual skills critical for learning and daily function. These tests can identify difficulties in areas such as:
Visual-motor integration: The ability to coordinate visual information with motor skills (e.g., handwriting, catching a ball).
Visual perception: The ability to interpret and understand visual information (e.g., recognising shapes, spatial relationships, and details).
Visual memory: The ability to retain and recall visual information.
Visual attention: The ability to focus on and attend to visual stimuli.
These assessments are valuable for children experiencing learning difficulties, reading challenges, or coordination problems. By identifying specific areas of visual processing weakness, we can then make recommendations on next steps, which may include seeing an occupational therapist, or education and developmental psychologist.
